A mostly quiet Saturday

Firstly apologies, there are a number of blogs I need to catch up on, but I've just been a bit on the busy side.  Will visit soon - I promise!

This morning I did something I have not done before.

I went to a group training session with my friend Rose.  It was a 4km run / walk session.  I decided to stick with Rose rather than go off on my own and actually found that I seem to be a bit fitter than she is.  I am pretty unfit still, but to actually have a comparison was rather interesting.  And I found myself coping really well.  I could have run for longer periods before walking and throughout my breathing remained good and I felt really comfortable.  And dare I say it - I actually enjoyed the session.  Now this is something I didn't think I was ever going to say - that I actually enjoyed a running session.  We did our session in 33 minutes.  The group was a mix of runners and walkers and some of us who chose to do a combination - so a good mix of mostly non-competitive people.

Next week we'll be doing a bike ride as well as a run / walk and I'm actually looking forward to it.

Other than that we're just having a fairly quiet Saturday.  Terence is on call for work and is a bit on the tired side today.  He worked from 7am to around midnight yesterday as they were trying to resolve a crisis at work.

How is your weekend so far?

What a wonderful gift that you ended up being fitter than your friend and that the session was a good one!

Yay Lea!

Our Sat has just started (9.22) so I'm having muesli, yoghurt and a cup of tea (!) and then we're off to the beach!

I know what you mean about getting caught up on blogs. We haven't had regular internet for the last few days so I am way behind on blogs as well.

Sounds like your running is coming along nicely. I keep saying I need to get back into it too but we have been doing lots of hiking so at least we are keeping active.

Have fun with the biking/running session next week.

I'm glad you are enjoying exercise. The more you do the fitter you get and the more satisfying it is! You've got the bug!
