Had my physio session again this morning. I was rather glad for the appointment because my right leg flared up again.
So I got there and explained what was happening and he asked me to lie face down. He started pressing on my back and oh my goodness, the one area he pressed was pretty sensitive. He now suspects that I might have a compressed nerve in the L-5 section on my back which (he explained) might be the culprit for the leg pain. Oh and general stiffness in that area.
I wonder where I might trade in my body for a new body... Anybody want to switch bodies?
He then asked me what ab-strengthening exercises I am doing and I stared at him blankly... (well I do those torturous core strength things Paul showed me where I was barely able to move the first time I tried them).
I told him that I have actually been taking very good care of my abs for a long time now - carefully protecting them under a layer of fat...
So now I have instructions to do 4 sets of 15 crunches or something every day.
Somehow things seemed so much simpler when I was a couch potato...

Oh I'm sorry you have back troubles, just as well you found out though, at least you can now do something to help it.
It might be easier being a couch potato but it's much better not to be.
Sorry to hear Lea :(! Has the physio giving you pool excercises? There are some very good ones using a board. You sit on the board (in the pool ofcourse) and use your arms to move you (like breaststroke)with your feet down to start with. As you get better you, raise your legs higher and higher until you can 'sit' like a V in the water. It's hard :) but it's helped me!
All the best for Sunday, Enjoy!
arggh... 4 sets of 15 crunches or something - lol, perhaps you could think up an easier 'something' to start with ?? ;D)
Luckily you can do something as simple as abdominal exercises, to sort out the pain in your back and leg.
I've found ab stretches really helpful. I'm glad that the physio might be getting on top of your leg problems through your back!
Our backs connect to everything, I go to a chiro at least once a month to keep everything in line - makes my life so much better!
Good luck getting to the root of the issue.
