A week of making a difference

With the 21st less than a week away it does mean that I have to start thinking about my next talk for CCF.  It is another fundraising dinner / auction and we are hoping that lots of funds will be raised for CCF.  This time round I will be speaking for about 5 minutes and have the option of doing slides if I want.  I'm thinking about the slides.  It might be nice sharing photos from different parts of Bianca's journey.  I am very excited to have another opportunity to help CCF raise some funds, but to be honest I am feeling a bit anxious as I really really don't want to get so emotional pretty much from the start.  At the best of times I hate crying in front of others and doing it in front of a whole audience is even worse!  So I need to think carefully about my opening.  Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated :-).

There will be 2 other CCF fundraising initiatives we'll be involved with next week.  On the 23rd volunteers will be out and about collecting money as part of the Child Cancer Foundation annual appeal.  Because it is also teacher's only day on this day and I will have the girls at home, Bianca, Caitlyn and I will help shake some buckets.  The girls will proudly wear their beads and it sounds like we'll be somewhere in Waikanae, so if you are in the area come see Bianca's beads and please consider putting some money into our buckets!  Every little bit will make a difference.

Then on Sunday the 25th, CCF is having another fundraise event at the Chicago Bar on the Wellington Waterfront.  From 11:30 - 1:30 there will be hair shaving (and Terence will get his hair shaved), hair spraying (for the not so brave), face  painting and a bouncy castle as well as samples of a brand new flavour of ice block!  For every brunch sold the Chicago Bar will give a percentage to CCF.  So this is a great opportunity to get out with the kids, have some fun and support a great cause!

I think it's great what you give back to CCF. All the best for your next talk. The slides sound a good idea!

I'm sure you're going to be GREAT. Definitley do the slides, it really helps your audience connect with you but not too many, you don't want to distract from your talk ;)

When you feel you're getting emotional - take serveral quick deep breaths - always helps me to stem the crying!
