A not so Wordless Wednesday

Moving on from yesterday, am still in the rather weird head space and still feeling a bit on the frustrated side, but will just need to get over myself.

Here is today's update in 2 parts:

Part 1:

Today was Bianca's hospital visit.  Up to now she's had check ups every 2 months, but from now we will be going every 3 months.  Although I think with the holiday period coming up the next one will likely be about 4 months away.  Thankfully Bianca's blood sample didn't clot this time (phew!  So not in the mood to have to repeat it), but we had to wait for the results.

Today's results were:

Haemoglobin 128 (normal range 115 -145)
Platelets 259 (normal range 150 - 425)
White cell counts 13.03 (normal range 4.3 - 12)
Neutrophils 8.95 (normal range 1.5 - 7)
Lymphocytes 2.83 (normal range 1.4 - 4.5)

So with the slightly higher white cells and neutrophils Bianca is probably fighting some or the other mild infection, but since she is well and happy and no sign of fever or any other symptoms of some horrible disease, we are not too worried about it at the moment.

I asked today to see what Bianca's blood test results were on the 2nd of June 2007 - the day she was first admitted to hospital.  I didn't think to ask at the time and I know Jo our nurse once emailed it to me probably about 2 years ago, but since then we upgraded our computer and lost all those very old emails and I didn't print it out at the time.

On the 2nd of June 2007 Bianca was admitted to hospital with these results:

Haemoglobin 65 (normal range 115 -145)
Platelets 15 (normal range 150 - 425)
White Cell Count 21.03 (normal range 4.3 - 12)
Blasts* 20.4 (97%)
Neutrophils 0.0 (normal range 1.5 - 7)

*Blasts: Immature blood cells. Leukemic blasts do not grow and age normally; they proliferate wildly and fail to mature.

What a difference between then and now!

Terence bought us a new memory card for our camera because the other one was acting up.  Probably from being used too much!  So today was the perfect opportunity to try it out.

Part 2:

This evening Bianca had her school production.  Unfortunately with the hospital visit earlier on she missed her 11am production, but thankfully was able to be at the 6pm show.

Boy did this bring back memories of my own production in Year 1 when I was a sunray too...

Not that I've known you for long, but through your previous blogs, Bianca's looking so grown up now :)and I love her wavy hair :)

Love the 'routine' pictures...height, weight, overall check :) could probably do it with her eyes closed now :) Soon it'll be 3 months, 4 months, twice a year, once a year :)

Like we were discussing yesterday Lea, unless you have a good understanding from the start what all the counts and terminology means, you don't always know quite how serious it is. But :) :) :) :) for the current results.

Your photos have given me another idea!! I should probably save it for next year, as it is another that requires a bit of planning!
